The minor pentatonic is a great skeleton when it comes to improvising over the blues. The problem is that your improvisations can become driven by your comfort zones if you only play the minor pentatonic mindlessly. We can fix that by creating a blues solo that can stand on its own without relying on a backing track. The key is to land on chord tones. There are chord tones that are not included in the minor pentatonic, so a good idea is to start soloing over the minor pentatonic, but land on these unique chord tones.
