My Book Therapy Dream Keeper & Planner 2018: : Dream, Plan & Do all in one amazing yearly planner (Brilliant Writer series) Paperback – Wall Calendar, December 14, 2017

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 11 ratings

Dream, Plan and Do all in one amazing planner.

For the writer and authorpreneur who wants to create a brilliant life and impactful career.

A note from the creator, Susan May Warren: Just like you, I’m a busy person. I run three businesses, have four children, volunteer in my church, nurture a successful marriage, speak and teach around the world, attempt to eat right, exercise daily, take care of my mind and strive to live a life that impacts the world for good.

For years, I struggled to find the right planner—one built for the creative mind, the spiritual person, an entrepreneur and writer and a busy get-it-all-done woman.
I usually ended up with four planners—a journal for my inner life, a wall calendar for the family activities, a business planner for my marketing and speaking events and a writing journal where I could capture my brainstorming. I had to lug them all around in a big bag.

Not anymore. Working with a talented artist who understood the needs of a creator, I synthesized the organization of a seasoned CEO, the motivation and self-analysis of a life and business coach, the daily habits of a wife and mother, and the brainstorming techniques of a career novelist.

Organizing them into logical (and pretty) logs, I put together what I consider the perfect planner for a career novelist/authorpreneur.
Someone who wants their whole life in one, well, big book. One fabulous place to keep track of everything. And, the really cool part is that this feels like a book, with the interior and cover set up like a novel. Because it’s the story of your life.

The My Book Therapy Dream Keeper 2018.
Classy, Pretty, Motivational—the place to create your vision, stay motivated, ignite your writing, improve productivity, live with joy
and get it all done.

    • Jumpstart your Year with analysis and planning to discover the most lucrative and joy-driven projects, a place for reflecting, dreaming big and following your passions.
    • Plan for Success with the Brainstorming and Project Boards to hone your ideas and create actionable projects. Quarterly and 90-day task sheets help you break them into energizing and goal-crushing tasks.
    • Make it Happen with the Month-at-a-Glance and weekly planners. You’ll see your projects take form.
    • Put Action to your Task List with the Daily Logs, a week-at-a-glance planner that incorporates not only your big projects but daily habits, menus and exercise/life activities.
    • Stay Motivated with the daily inspiration section and motivational quotes in the back.
    • Analyze and plan for the next amazing month with the month-end analysis.
    • Finish your year with a review and a plan for the next.
You’ll be amazed with the brilliant year you had.

    And, don’t forget
the BONUS Section in the back. Brainstorming and plotting sheets for three books, including an indie-book project sheet to track your deadlines and finances!

This is more than a planner, it’s a keeper of your dreams. Because your story—the one you live
    and the one you create—matters.

Although I attended the U of Minnesota, I’m a woodsy girl at heart. Or maybe I’m an adventurer—having lived and traveled all over the world, including Siberia, Russia as a missionary for eight years. That’s why my characters seem to get into one scrape after another—they’re too much like me! I love God, my family, my country, my church, and feel privileged every day to be able to write stories.

    And my 'official' bio:

I just received my planner in the mail, and wow, it’s comprehensive and exactly what I need. I love planners, and have been in search of the perfect one for a while. I’ve tried Erin Condren, Emily Ley, Day designer, Standard one’s from Staples, Bullet Journal, and the list goes on...and they always seem lacking for my writing/planning needs. I’ve even tried combining Lara Casey powersheets with these planners, yet still not the best system. So when I got the My Story planner in the mail, let’s just say I knew how to evaluate it quickly. And everything I want is there. I’m going to do my best to describe some of the pages because there aren’t a lot of pictures The goal setting in the beginning of the year is on point, lots of great questions to get you thinking about what’s important for a writer to plan. Then the weekly sheets is where this planner really shines!! That’s been one of my biggest struggles, finding a to-do list big enough for all of my weekly tasks, and also having space to plan my days. The creator solves my issue brilliantly by putting the to-do list on one two-page spread and the weekly schedule on another (see attached pics for examples). She leaves space for you to create your schedule flexibly. You also have a space in a little chart for for each day of the week, and it’s perfect to use for my fitness goals! There’s meal planning space too! In the back, there’s space for reflection on the year, sheets that guide you through that to prepare for next year, and then there’s story planning sheets in the appendix. The book is big, just like she says in the description, but Big is good when it has everything you need! Buy it and try it, I think you’re expectations will be surpassed as mine were.

According to statistics, over 80% of all people feel there is a book inside of them. According to one of my favorite authors, Maya Angelou, "There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you". This planner is perfect for doing just that!

This is the planner that I, personally, have been searching for for over a decade.
It is a motivational tool for those of us who just can't seem to organize our thoughts long enough to actually sit down and write. It makes you WANT to write.

It is an actual planner for everyday use, but also includes areas for us to write about our goals, daily habits and inspirations. Also included are monthly reviews, where we can track our accomplishments, challenges, struggles, significant events, finances... and so much more!!

What I'm trying to get across is this... even for those who feel they can't write, or never intended to, this Dream Keeper may just change your mind.
If not, even the simple act of filling it out would create a treasure to pass on to loved ones as it is basically a journal of LIFE.

We are to enjoy our journeys while on the way to achieving our dreams. This planner will help us do just that.

One more thing for fellow writers... check out My Book Therapy (google it). The classes, blog posts, weekly discussions are amazing! Susie May Warren is an award-winning author who has made helping other writers a priority in her life. God bless her for it!

For any who may be wondering, I did NOT receive any compensation for this review.

Finally, a streamlined planner for writers and other aspects of your life. I love the devotional/prayer section incorporated into the planner. The fact that I don't need a separate journal for that along with the writing planning pages, makes this planner a winner. I especially love the daily habit tracker as well. This planner hits all the major points and does it in such a minimalist format. Kudos to Susan May Warren.

However, the size and feel of it reminds me of a huge coloring book for kids. And that's where it loses a star because now I have to deconstruct the planner to fit my needs and at $30, I shouldn't have too. But nevertheless, I like this planner so much, that I still went ahead and made the purchase. I would strongly suggest to the publisher to break the planner into 4 smaller spiral bound planners of 3 months each and sell it as a set . This format would coordinate nicely with the included Quarter Goals page and thus make the planner lighter to carry into your tote bag or briefcase.

Another thing that would be nice are undated monthly calendars. Let the user input the dates. This way, you can purchase and start this planner anytime of the year. I made the mistake of purchasing it in April and I couldn't use months January thru March and didn't want a huge section of unused planner pages, so I tore the months April thru June for now and 3 hole punched them and put them into a 1/2 inch flexi binder. So another suggestion is to sell it as a loose leaf 3 hole punched planner pages. Other reviews have already described or showed via images in detail of how the pages in the planner look like, so I won't expand on it. Only to add, that the author of this planner should add at least one blank note page (i.e. bullet/dot/graph style) at the end of each week or month for additional personalized planning. For now, I added my own blank bullet dot pages to my binder.

I think with these changes then I wouldn't mind the $30 price tag on this planner. As for how it stands now, I think it is over priced by $10. As I begin to use the planner and fine tune it for my needs, I will come back and leave an update. All in all, if you don't mind the size (thickness) of the planner and you are lucky enough to have purchased it in January, and don't mind leaving it at home, then it's a well worth purchase!
