Seahawks GM John Schneider: Richard Sherman trade talk 'is real'
The Seattle Seahawks haven't put discussions regarding a trade of Richard Sherman behind them just yet.
General manager John Schneider said Wednesday the team is open to moving the three-time all-pro cornerback but admitted the odds of such a deal were remote.
"What you've seen lately in the news is real," Schneider said on the "Brock and Salk" show on 710 ESPN Radio in Seattle regarding Sherman. "That's on both sides. It's just open communication. He knows what's going on. We know what's going on.
"I don't know if anything would ever happen. But like I tell people all the time, 98% of the things we're involved with, we don't follow through with. But at least we've opened that door, gone down the road and seen what's behind door A or door B."

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll confirmed at the NFL league meeting in Phoenix last Wednesday that Seattle had listened to inquiries regarding Sherman. But Carroll indicated he believed a deal was highly unlikely.
"You're either competing or you're not," Carroll said. "We've always had to be open for everything, every suggestion that comes along. There have been some teams that have called and so we've talked about it. But he's extremely important to our football team. I don't see anything happening, at all. And I don't see anything happening with any others our players, just by kind of the banter that's out there right now. But it has been talked about."
Sherman, 29, has made the Pro Bowl the last four seasons but had two sideline confrontations with team assistants last season.
"I wouldn't want to leave this city and my guys, but I understand it's a business and organizational philosophies change," Sherman said on 710 ESPN Radio in Seattle last Thursday.
