Have you ever hit rock bottom?

I embarrassingly have.

It’s why I’m wearing my girl's decorative scarf over my head, clutching her lady drink to my chest, and singing ever so softly to Joni Mitchell while swaying back and forth.

This is what therapists refer to as LOSING IT.

Oldest story in the book: boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, boy screws up MASSIVELY, girl tells boy to suffocate in the fruits of his very own unborn children.

Heard it before? I'm sure you have.

So what's so different about this story? Well, it's about me, The Modern Gentleman, New York City's top advice columnist, and my rather ungraceful downfall from my pristinely polished pedestal.

It's about a girl I met who threw all my proven theories to the wind and left me awkward, needy, and absolutely head-over-wingtipped shoes in love.

This is a story about June Lacy and how she single-handedly dismantled The Modern Gentleman.

When I was in high school I occasionally read books but was consumed by other teenage things so I didn't take the time to appreciate a good book on a cloudy day, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch. It wasn't until I received a Kindle for Christmas one year that my world completely flipped upside down. When looking for books I came across the Contemporary Romance genre and was sold and I haven't turned back since.

You can either find my head buried in my Kindle, listening to inspiring heart ripping music or typing away on the computer twisting and turning the lives of my characters while driving my readers crazy with anticipation.

I currently reside in beautiful Colorado Springs where the sun is always shining and there is a trail waiting to be hiked on every corner. I share a lovely and warm home with the love of my life and my five, four-legged children.

This is basically a romantic comedy and it read more like a film than a book. I could absolutely see it wrapped as one hour and a half of average acting and an average storyline.
I’m not saying it wasn’t enjoyable cause there was just something about the general silliness of the MMC which was endearing and fun to read.

Overall this was short (under 300 pages) and quick to read. It had funny moments and the writing flowed. I think if you’re in the mood for something less serious and just a bit of pass time this one could be good BUT I can’t say it was anything original or new.
The female main character was so very cliche. Everything about her was written to make her “different”. I mean, the woman didn’t have a phone in 2020. She said all these deep and meaningful things and approached dating with realism and interest (translation = instead of asking him what’s his age and what college he went to she would ask him what he would do if he was free to do anything on a random Wednesday - and that’s how apparently you really get to know someone, not to mention that he was so charmed, cause apparently she was the only woman he had ever come across to be some refreshing, so quirky, so sassy, and free of make up, let’s not forget that)

I enjoyed pretty much every aspect of the book which had the hero being a doofus and pretty clueless in general. Anything about the heroine and her reactions, and her quirky traits, and her being so, so, very different , made me wanna stop reading (because I’m over those descriptions as the only acceptable main female character material)

MAJOR SPOILER ALERTS IN THIS REVIEW!!!!!

For anyone reading this review, you need to know that I don’t follow authors or give good reviews that often. Majority of my reviews are DNFs because as we all know it is the same themes over & over again, so to get a plot that to my knowledge has never been written before and have the characters “speak” to us readers direct is absolutely brilliant of the author and I for one thank her for being original and thinking out of the box! Well done Ms Quinn!!!
-----------------
This is a story about Wesley Waldorf Williams & June July Lacy’s crazy journey to HEA – and how Wes lost the love of his life (aka June).

No, this is not a second chance as the story takes us through how they met, fell in love and eventually how Wes, the Goose, fucked up and lost his girl – and won her back in a way that I have never seen any hero do so in a long, long, long time! And for the record, this heroine was truly awesome! No doormat or thinking with her lady parts here. This heroine made the Hero WORK FOR IT! Yep, how often do we read about such heroine?

Told mostly from Wes’s POV (at least up until the last chapter), this is a “dating” 101 story that starts on 1st page with Wes wallowing, miserable & depressed cause he lost his girl. He then takes us from the beginning of how they met, fell in love and how things all went South for him – and what major groveling Wes needed to do to make things right to win her back.

At various times in the story, Wes speaks direct to the reader in his analogy of the “Gentlemen’s way of dating”, and as I said, at the end we even get June’s voice talking to us about her thought process. As a hero, Wes came across as a lovable, sweet dorky doof who transformed himself into a “Modern Gentleman” via his advice column. He works for a newspaper in which he writes a column to help dudes transform themselves into gentlemen of class and sex appeal. His boss assigns him to find a woman & court her as an experiment of “The Modern Gentleman’s - A How-to Guide” and write a column on it each week based on his courtship of June.

With help from his two besties – he is signed up initially on a dating app with not so nice results -

“Got you all signed up.” Roman plops down on the barstool next to me. “Your username is CockDaddy69 and I used your picture from the staff directory. Go ahead, start swiping.” He holds out his phone, which I don’t bother taking.

“I’m not going to use Love Swipe—how many times do I have to tell you that? And I’m sure as hell not using it under the name CockDaddy69.”

From here, things improve for him when he meets June one day in the park where they have a heated conversation over dog poop. Yep - 🐕 💩 🙈 General Fitzbum (dog) dropped a doo-doo on the sidewalk and June handed the poop bag to Wes!

June is an aspiring Broadway actress, dog walker, doll maker and a hundred other things (the scene with the dolls in her apartment will have you cracking in stitches!. 😂). She is feisty, straightforward, confident & not willing to take any crap from anyone! She really didn’t make things easy for Wes in the beginning or anytime in their courtship. 👏 👏 👏

After she & Wes clicked from the first moment they met, their romance was hilarious!

“As a solid warning, I have pepper spray in my purse, I am well-versed in the karate techniques of a white belt, and I know how to use my apartment keys as a shiv. Your chances of abducting me and going unscathed are low.”

“Glad to see we’ve formed a line of trust.”

She chuckles and takes my arm, her hand falling to my forearm. “Thought it was only fair to give you a warning. You know, keeping the lines of communication open.”

“That’s appreciated.”

---
Please, Satan, swallow me whole right now. Fingers pressed to my brow, I repeat myself slowly, “Cock . . . Daddy.”

“Colton Faddy?

I’m about to grab her iPad myself when June yells, “COCKDADDY, woman. C-O-C-K daddy. Like mommy and DADDY. Cock . . . daddy. He’s my cock daddy. What a big COCK, Daddy. Cock! DADDY!”

Calming herself, she turns to me and says, “Excuse me.” She flattens her hands over her skirt. “Shuffleboard gets my gears going. What was the number that accompanied CockDaddy?”

Mouth dry, temples sweating, this moment beyond anything I could ever dream up, I say without blinking, “Sixty-nine.”

“Ah, okay.” She turns back to the hostess and taps her iPad. “That would be CockDaddy69. Thank you.”

----
“D-oye,” I yelp, just as June says, “Like this?” and cocks her arm back, shooting the tang pole directly into my unsuspecting and unprotected nutsac.

Man . . . down.

Hands to the crotch, I collapse to the ground, and curl into a ball, praying to Jesus, long-haired and Holy Jesus, that she didn’t just pierce my nutsac open with the end of the pole.

Humiliation courses through me as each Australian grab me on either side, lifting me by my shoulders and legs, and carry me to the men’s room, while onlookers point and stare and June trails behind asking if I need ice or a trash can or anything to help my penis feel better.

Balls. Not penis. Balls.

----
But there is the angst too in the form that when June finally realizes that she is Wes’s “experiment”, she feels betrayed & hurt & brakes up with him.

Shit, not only am I having to put my personal life out on the table for all to read, but I have to go against every honest bone in my body. One of my top rules in dating is honesty, but how can I be honest with June if I can’t tell her details about my job?

Wes and his “redemption” was an old time classic for me!

Meeting someone over a pile of dog crap doesn’t necessarily scream, “This is the start of the world’s most epic romance.” Yup . . . should’ve known.

Dog doo-doo. You read that correctly. I met the love of my life over dog doo-doo.

----
“Seems like you only have one option left. You have to get her back.”

I shake my head. Not going to happen. “She specifically told me to crawl into my own scrotum and drown in my sperm. I’m pretty positive when a girl wants my unborn children to kill me, she’s not going to want to talk to me again.”

----
Dear Modern Gentleman,

I’ve recently been given the opportunity to reinvent myself. Without going into details about my past, I want to drop the nerdy persona that’s stuck with me since middle school and transform myself into the epitome of The Modern Gentleman. The problem is, I’m having a hard time staying out of the friend zone. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Permanent Friend

Dear Permanent Friend,

While you’re busy switching from Reeboks to your very own pair of Stuart Weitzmans, there is a general rule of thumb you need to remember when interacting with the opposite sex. Brand this motto on your soul: a gentleman on the streets, an alpha in the sheets. What does that mean? Hold the door open for your girl, but when she passes through, give that ass a gentle slap. Let it be known you are every bit the upstanding man she dreams of but you will ravish the hell out of her when you get home.

Good luck, Gent,

The Modern Gentleman
WES

----
It is. Wesley Waldorf Williams. My full name.”

I can tell she doesn’t want to be rude, but I can see the scrunch in her nose as she asks, “Waldorf?”

I chuckle. “The Waldorf Astoria is a special place to my parents. Enough said.”

“Named after a hotel your parents most likely boned in? That must sit well with you.”

----
Wes: Before you get mad at me, I want you to know, I tried incredibly hard to crawl up my own testicle and drown in my unborn children, but despite valiant efforts, it was next to impossible. Which leads me to texting you. And before you tell me to eat crap and die, I want to tell you this . . .

June: What a great apology. But can I ask you something?

Wes: Yes, of course, anything.

June: Did you try waterboarding yourself with your own sperm?

Wes: I’ll uh . . . I’ll try that next.

June: Perfect.

----
“I love you, too, Wesley Waldorf, so much . . . but please, for the love of God, put some pants on. Your man thighs are scaring people.”

Safety:

OW drama: None. It was briefly mentioned in the beginning that Wes had a 3 yr relationship with a woman in the past that left him for another man because he didn’t give her the attention she deserved. He is not obsessing about her or anything. He is also NOT a Manho. He stated that he dated women from time to time before he met June and while his friend tried to match him up with a woman in a dating app whom he met at a bar, he was attracted to her at first but things didn’t go anywhere because she was a psycho.

OM drama: None. Heroine is not a virgin. She had a relationship with a man in past who cheated on her.

Cheating & other intimate scenes with OP: None whatsoever.

Safe sex: Yep. Condom used, though there was unfortunately only one sex scene towards close to the end, so this is mostly a PG read.

Favorite characters: All of them, though accolades should be given to General Fitzbum (the one-eared dog) and to Wes’s BFF’s Camden & Roman who were a hoot. Author willing, I would very much love a story about Roman who is a tool with his toe-sucking fetish sexapades!

Recommend: Yep - most definitely. This is going to be a re-read for me many, many times!

Thank you author!!!!

”She specifically told me to crawl into my own scrotum and drown in my sperm. I’m pretty positive when a girl wants my unborn children to kill me, she’s not going to want to talk to me again.”

”THE MODERN GENTLEMAN” was another extremely hilarious romantic comedy written by the Queen of RomComs – Meghan Quinn. I lost count of the number of times I found myself in a fit of belly-aching laughter. I was a goner for Wes Waldorf aka ”The Modern Gentleman” after we first meet him drowning his sorrows in a girly drink called the ’Mang-o-Rita”. A Hero who doesn’t care about being caught wallowing in a pity party for one, drinking a girly drink, wearing his woman’s scarf around his head, and listening to a sad Joni Mitchell song, is a book boyfriend that I know is going to steal reader’s hearts.

Wes has always been confident in his ability to attract the opposite sex. That’s why his relationship advice column is the breadwinner for the internet-based publication he works for. His boss has given him an ultimatum to change things up and write a series of articles on his real-life experiences in trying to win the heart of a woman he just met. At the time he’s not dating anyone and is only given three days to find a woman to woo. This amps up his anxiety levels because the alternative that he is faced with is being set up with the boss’s daughter.

Wes meets June Lacy, a quirky aspiring Broadway actress. June is like no other woman he’s ever dated and she is not easily wooed. She keeps Wes on his toes and has him acting like an inexperienced teenager. Wes’ game is shot. He suffers numerous embarrassing but supremely hilarious blunders. The entire time you get inside this character’s head and realize he is one truly amazing guy with a heart of gold. He’s falling for the girl but has kept his assignment for the magazine a secret. Can you see what lays ahead for Wes and June? It’s predictable and yet wildly entertaining. You’ll never guess all the ways in which Wes fails at trying to impress the girl spectacularly, but boy, will you find yourself in the midst of side-splitting laughter!! This is another book I’m adding to my long list of favorites by this amazing author.

This was a cute, albeit predictable romance. It was nice for a shorter rom-com. Wes is ‘The Modern Gentleman’ and that part of the story reminded me of How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days (but not exactly the same). I liked June and Wes and I think a book like this would translate well to the big screen.

Super cute! Miss Quinn as usual delivers her signature rom com book. In The Modern Gentleman, watch how West, a super suave modern gentleman, falls for June.

Their dates, their meet cute is just hilarious. Remind me of Emma Chase a bit. I wonder if both of them ever consider writing a book together. It must be super hilarious.

The story is short but has the right punches to it. I am so giddy with laugh right now.

Before I begin, let’s take a moment and appreciate this book’s tagline:
A gentleman on the streets.
An alpha in the sheets

AND let’s pay proper respect to the deliciousness that is this cover #WINNING

Now … #FunFact: I read this ARC on the heels of five 5 star back to back to back to … I legit thought this would be the book I read of Meghan’s that would at least be just okay because who has that much greatness in their reading? ME. I have that much greatness in my reading!! LOL

Holy FUNballs kids!!

What we have here is a role reversal of How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days but a million times funnier somehow. I smiled from beginning to end. No exaggeration. The shenanigans mixed with the chemistry was so ridiculous I wanted to join in! I WANT TO BE THEIR FRIEND #sendhelp lol The story flew by like nothing. That’s how easy it is to read. Yes, it’s not very long to begin with but it’s just hilarious and truly a laugh out loud kind of book! I don’t understand anyone that doesn’t decide to pick this book up!

I have to be honest. I wasn't expecting much from this one. I don't even know how I found it. I was browsing and it popped up and I wasn't expecting to like or finish it really, let alone give it 5 stars!

Here we are.

Wes is a modern gentleman. Or at least that's the persona he writes as for a magazine. As "the modern gentleman" he gives lots of dating advice to aspiring modern gentleman. When his boss tells him he has to write his column about how to fall in love and be in a serious relationship from a personal perspective (ie: GET A GIRLFRIEND NOW!), he is a bit panicked. How is he going to find someone to write about in such a short amount of time? Enter aspiring actress and dog walker, June - who literally hands him a bag of dog poo.

Oh my goodness. I laughed SO HARD through this one. And I don't mean I was just giggling quietly, I was crying. Snot was flying out of my nose. I was unable to control my laughter. My family thought I had gone absolutely mad. I couldn't even speak to explain, I was laughing so hard!

What an amazing find! I am so glad I gave this little book a go. And it is a little book. I was finished it in less than 2 hours. But those two hours were the most enjoyable I have had reading a book in a long time. Even now just thinking back to some of the scenes in the book, I am laughing again. Oh tears!

The characters were great. I was expecting to dislike our main character but he was absolutely wonderful. I loved that it was mostly written from his point of view, you know why? Because it is so refreshing to read from a male point of view that wasn't an absolute dickhead. I loved him, I loved his best friends, I loved June and I absolutely loved their banter.

If only we could all have a little Wes in our lives!

Absolutely loved it!

Romantic Comedy

The Modern Gentleman was an absolute surprise from Meghan Quinn, and I am so thankful that she has given us this book in these trying times because I REALLY needed the laugh. As with many of her romcoms readers can be sure that they will laugh out loud more time than they can count while still swooning for the characters who easily make their way into our hearts. June and Wes were fantastic together and watching him woo her was hilarious! These two truly couldn’t be more opposite from each other but they fit together like a pair of gloves! I loved them to pieces.

Now, there is a little white lie that takes place in the book that certainly stirs up trouble, but for the sake of excitement and intrigue, it works! Meghan writes Wes as a relatable character and while his judgement on certain topics is a little iffy, it was wonderful to watch him grow. June, she’s a spitfire! Most of the book (90% of it) is in Wes’s POV, but seeing a little of Junes really added to the story. I was worried at first because writing ONLY a male POV can sometimes hurt connections with the other leads, but it worked here. I think many will agree! I also adored Wes so much and being in his head 24/7 was fabulous.

If you’re looking for a lighthearted, charming, and warm romantic comedy with a lot of laugh out loud moments you won’t want to miss The Modern Gentleman. I read this book in one sitting and couldn’t get enough! I hope some of the secondary characters get their own stories… They are equally as hilarious!

Author Meghan Quinn pens another hilariously fun romance.

The Modern Gentleman follows Wesley Waldorft Williams as he tries to write a how-to guide on how to catch the woman of your dreams. “Think How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, but the opposite.” While his almost misstep in dog doo-doo was the perfect meet-cute, his journey towards getting the girl is anything but smooth sailing.

There was a very awkward first date that started with an unflattering reservation name (c*ckd@ddy69) and ended… well, let’s just say very ungracefully. Then there was the post boozy brunch Magic Mike performance, which again left a lasting impression on June Lacy who is slowly but surely turning this very attractive and well-polished gentleman into a head-over-heals goofball.
“Food with me! ... I mean, would you like to have dinner with me?”

What develops between them is deep connection that goes beyond a physical attraction or desire, it’s a surge of emotion that goes along with each moment of fun and warm fuzzy goodness. But what happens when June finds out the truth Wes had failed to reveal?

As with all of Meghan Quinn’s books, THE MODERN GENTLEMAN was an absolute delight to read. Packed with heart, delicious tension and laugh out loud moments, this most recent novel strikes a charming balance between fun and emotion.
“I like him as a man.
Adore him as a friend.
Love him as mine.”

Even though I prefer bossy, over protective alpha males, I couldn’t help but fall for Wes. Even though he remade himself into a refined and sophisticated gentleman, he was thoughtful, attentive, and patient and could easily poke fun at himself. I also loved his best friends Cadem and Roman who provided even more comedic relief. I hope we get books for them in the future.

The romance between Wes and June is seriously a slow burn since June is very old school. She has a rule of no kissing until the 10th date. But it was a journey I really enjoyed along with other details Quinn added like the introductions to each chapter with a letter to The Modern Gentleman.

Quinn has an amazing ability to draw the reader into a story that’s impossible to put down. This is a great weekend rom-com to.

The Modern Gentleman is a standalone contemporary romance by Meghan Quinn. Told mostly from the hero’s point of view, but we do get snippets from the heroine with a happy ending.

The Modern Gentleman had an interesting premise -an advice column writer for a Buzzfeed-like online publication gets assigned a different kind of assignment - an expose of dating using his own advice to show a step by step formula on getting a woman to fall in love with you.

It's a little icky, not gonna lie. It feels a little objectifying but Wes, our "modern gentleman", does acknowledge that it was wrong and he did object to doing it to begin with so I'm not holding that against him. He sets his sights on June, a hopeful Broadway actress with a handful of quirky side gigs who is the definition of a "not like other girls" kind of woman.

Wes has to work for it because she's "super special" but he's able to adapt his Modern Gentleman approach to work on her. There are some pretty humorous moments but the humor got exhausting for me kind of quickly when it seemed like every interaction simply *had* to have half a dozen ridiculous shenanigans thrown in. The book was so focused on being quirky that it didn't develop the characters at all and I didn't feel any kind of connection between them. Everything felt like it happened because it was supposed to in what the author planned, not because of any development or genuine connection between the characters.

Wes and June also felt pretty flat as characters. Wes was a bland in a way that isn't particularly noteworthy - his entire job is writing dating advice and he's had some rough luck in that department. He's underdeveloped more than anything. June, however is flat in a way that is underdeveloped but also cringe to me.

She eschews technology. Don't you dare use a cell phone around her, because she will lecture you about "burying your head in your electronics" even if she doesn't know what you're doing on there or how long you've been on it.

More than that, June doesn't feel like a real person - she feels like a stereotype. Like a list of "quirky" attributes that make her "special" and "different" shoved into a flesh suit to be passed off as a real person. There was nothing particularly interesting about her that made her attractive to Wes except that she was apparently unlike any girl he'd ever met (because she only had a brick cell phone for emergency's and wasn't willing to give him her number until after a couple dates). Which makes her incredibly replaceable - the best and most noteworthy thing about her is that she's the first "different" woman he's met.

I tend to dislike the "not like other girls" narrative - it is typically based on the idea that other women are shallow or unintelligent and to be frank, it comes off as pretty misogynistic when the MG is noteworthy just because she's nice and not "easy" (as if the guys aren't also sleeping around but it's a woman, so obviously the rules are different *eyeroll*). Usually I can roll my eyes and move on at the random off comment about a girl actually liking - *gasp* REAL food like pizza or heaven above, drinking beer! But in this case, being quirky was her entire personality.

This book was just not it for me - the combination of trying to hard quirkiness, "not like other girls" doing the heavy lifting, and excessive "talking to the reader" from the characters perspective (which I am not a huge fan of but can take in small doses) just made me flip the pages as quickly as I could to finish as soon as possible. That being said - if you like Lauren Landish and Pippa Grant, you will probably like this!

This gave me "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" vibes, and I think it was even mentioned at the beginning of this book, and I love that! Also, Connor Crais and Kelsey Navarro narrated this book perfectly!

Wes is an advice columnist who writes under the name of "The Modern Gentleman". He's suave, knows all the right moves, etc. When he meets June by accident he finally has the story he is pressed to begin by his boss. Except June is completely different than any girl he's ever been with before. She tosses all his modern gentleman theories right out the door and it's hilarious. I love when they start going on all their dates and it's followed by one disaster after the other for poor Wes. I LOVE Meghan Quinn's humor, but don't always laugh out loud while reading books. This one made me do it while I was sick! The scene with the dolls in her apartment was pure gold. I had to rewind and listen to that part twice I loved it so much.

Of course Wes screws up by not living one of his most important principles of The Modern Gentleman, which is always being honest. It was so funny when Kelsey Navarro cuts in toward the end of the Audiobook to give Junes perspective finally. Meghan Quinn is just it for me!

I got to be honest here.. I don't understand why some folks said they didn't like the characters - especially the heroine. This was one heroine that I could get on board on more often if she was written like this one!

- Yes, we didn't get her POV until the end and that sucked cause I would have loved to get her internal thinking too!
- Yes, I wish the ending had more of an epilogue of down the road with this couple.
- Yes, I wish there was more sexy times & more interactions to develop that deep bond we look for.

BUT

- It had a unique take of a "gentleman" for a Hero. One who doesn't treat women like the bottom of his shoe!
- One who was not a Manwhore!
- One who truly does redemption & pursuit like no other I've ever read about!
- And you have got to give it to the author for the humor if nothing else!

Come on folks! Who did not laugh out at scenes like the "CockDaddy69" scenes, the "crotch" or the old time classic favorite shows of Julia Roberts/Tom Cruise gimmicks? There were so many laugh-out moments that even if the romance was not deep, the dialogue in itself was fantastic! Enough that I happily enjoyed an hour or two reading something that didn't make me want to puke!

Highly recommend and thank you P for sending it my way! Much appreciated girl!😘😘

THIS WAS AMAZING, FUNNY, CUTE AND EVERYTHING I NEEDED RIGHT NOW!

I LOVE LOVE I MEAN LOVE, WES, HE IS TRUELY THE PERFECT GENTLEMAN..
The major part of this book was in Wesley’s point of view and I really ENJOYED it. He was funny and sweet and an absolute gentlemen. This was a light read with NO unnecessary DRAMA and my favorite NO OW and OM drama. This book mainly focused on Wes and June dating each other which was FUN.

I love a h that does not give in easily and makes the H work for it. However, I do wish we got more of June’s point of view early on in the book because I really wanted to know what she was thinking. She only had like 3 times in which we got to hear her thoughts. So that may have been why I couldn’t connect to her that much. But I still loved how she didn’t give in early and her personally which we got to see through Wes was great.

I was hoping for a longer epilogue at the end but unfortunately it wasn’t. I wanted to see them in the future. I do believe they love each other but I wanted more at the end.

A special mention is Roman and Caden. I adored them. They made me laugh out loud.

Overall, it was a GREAT READ and I LOVE WES. I wouldn’t say this book is anything original though but I still enjoyed it a lot and would love to read more if this author will do a series based on his friends next.

THREE POINT FIVE STARS

Megan Quinn always does a good job of creating a fun story. The Modern Gentleman is mainly told from Wes's pov. Around 80% the reader gets June's pov of the situation.

This is somewhat of a fake dating trope. In fake dating usually both people know they are fake dating for some purpose - like getting their parents or friends off their back about being single. In this situation, June has no clue that Wes is pursuing her for a story he is writing. He quickly falls for her but she is still unaware of his original intentions.

THE MODERN GENTLEMAN
● Wesley Waldorf Williams & June July Lucy
● writer of an advice column / dog walker & aspiring Broadway actress
● “The Modern Gentleman”
● Wes’s boss gives him the assignment to make his column personal and start pursuing a woman
● fake dating
● meet cute: over dog poop
Audiobook source: Hoopla
Narrator: Kelsey Navarro & Connor Crais

Pensate a "Come farsi lasciare in dieci giorni" ma tutto al contrario e avrete The modern gentleman.
And I'm living for it!

No gente, dovete fidarvi di me: leggetelo!

Kudos to Meghan Quinn for this super witty, uber funny, absolutely entertaining and hardcore romantic story! The Modern Gentleman is THE ultimate rom com. Adorable, quirky and smartass characters. Incredibly sweet and hot chemistry. Superbly written hilarious scenes those are etched in my memory forever now!

Wes is The Modern Gentleman. He writes the dating advice column in the same name in one of biggest online magazine, Hype. But he was not prepared the curveball aka his boss. His boss wants him to apply his dating rules in real life and score a girl and write that experience in magazine. And in his quest, he meets June Lucy over dog poop. But the problem is Lucy is not playing by his rules and he doesn't think it's an experiment anymore.

Wes. Wes. Wes. Yeah I just said his name three times. Because this bearded charmer is three times everything. HE IS AMAZING. He is sweet. He is caring. He has an wicked sense of humor. He is attentive to the girl. He is charming. He is sexy as sin.He is truly "gentleman in street, alpha in sheet." But behind his cocky and rad Modern Gentleman persona, he is the nicest and most adorably awkward guy ever. And June found out about that inside man. Because she is equally adorable and different. She has many feathers in her crown. Aspiring Broadway star. Dog walker. Doll dress maker. A beautiful girl with mischief and naughtiness in heart. She has a soft heart and so she is afraid to get hurt. But Wes made her open up even if he is going to mess it up royally.

The writing is beyond amazing. Meghan Quinn always manages to make me laugh till my stomach hurts and make me swoon till my heart beats madly in my chest. And she does it with minimal effort. Her imagination is incredible. She writes the most unique scenes in a completely believable way. It doesn't feel like she is writing a story. It feels like I am sitting in the character's head and experiencing everything vividly. The emotions flow smoothly and attack sharply. This story defines slow burn in a whole new way. And I just can't get enough of all the feels.

The Modern Gentleman by Meghan Quinn gave me such a deliciously warm and happy vibe. This story is made up of dreamy smiles, crazy laughs, swooniest emotions, sexy passion and unforgettable characters. All the best things about romance in one place!

Okay The Modern Gentleman is HILARIOUS you guys! I have never laughed so hard. Totally adore Wes – alpha hero, gorgeous, confident but also so sweet. He jumped all the hoops for the woman he loves and that include facing the biggest fear, singing in front of crowd… Gah, super swoony! June is so quirky and sassy. She has a carefree personality, honest, kind. She speaks her mind and isn’t afraid to compliments or busting b*lls as she sees fit. She really is a breath of fresh air. She brings out the best in Wes, helped him loosen up, slow down, and enjoy life. I love how they met –June rescued Wes dodging dog poop in central park LOL seriously? I love all the massive train wreck dates – so funny and that’s so them! I also enjoy the secondary characters mainly the bromance between Wes and his two best-friends. Over all this was quick, adorable, light-hearted, lovely romantic comedy.

‘Well, surprise, I wasn’t always the pristine, well-mannered, fuck-sation you see today. I was one of them: a beer-guzzling, video-game-playing, disinterested asshole who took my relationship for granted.’

The Modern Gentleman by Meghan Quinn was such a light-hearted and entertaining read! We were chuckling away at Wes’ antics and swooning over his wooing. Honestly, we fell in love with Wes from the get go, a man with the best of intentions yet pulling these stunts that were straight out of a comedy sketch. Meghan Quinn has such a fabulous sense of humour which just tickles us and this time it was combined with a sweet slow burn romance, so what’s not to love?

Cockdaddy69: Hi

“Hi? That’s all you’re going to say? That’s entirely too lame. Someone with the username Cockdaddy69 would not just say hi.”

Wes was such a funny character, he made us laugh and cringe in equal measure. Meghan Quinn writes these brilliant male characters that are so cheeky, sweet and funny whilst retaining everything that makes them so delish and passionate. It’s quite the feat, and we love that this insecurity and vulnerability can be what is so attractive and appealing. Wes writes a super popular advice column under the name of The Modern Gentleman. The emails he receives are hilarious and his responses classic! He’s the slob turned suave lady-killer and gives advice on how to woo that special lady. When his boss asks for a real life experiment which imparts valuable advice to his readership, Wes embark on a wooing journey that turns into a real case of ‘love at first dog poop’. Along with some advice from his hilarious two best mates, Roman and Caden, he attempts to charm the knickers off the elusive and slightly eccentric, June Lacy.

‘Dear Modern Gentleman,

I made a move. My girl was giving me all the right signals, so after dinner, standing outside her apartment, I kissed her. The only problem…she was going in for a hug so I ended up kissing her ear…with a little bit of tongue. I wet-willied her with my tongue. I didn’t know what to say, so I bolted. It’s been two days and I haven’t talked to her. I really like her but I don’t know how to move on from something so embarrassing. Any advice?

The Wet Willy Man

This romantic comedy was the perfect lazy afternoon read. It reminded us a bit of a reversed version of How to Lose a Guy in 10 days, with the vast majority of the story in Wes’ pov. There were a few cheeky chapters in June’s voice which were strategically placed. To be fair, we found it a tad challenging to connect with her as we only saw her from an outside perspective and there wasn’t enough about her to really emotionally connect to. So those titbits sure did help! As far as romantic comedies go, we really enjoyed it, laughing out loud at the antics of the woeful threesome; Wes, Caden and Roman – their banter was class! The romance was super sweet and we felt everything Wes was feeling, the good, the bad and the sometimes downright hilarious cringe fest!

‘This girl was made to make me smile. She was brought into my life to challenge me.’

Wow! Meghan Quinn really outdid herself with this one! I honestly cannot remember the last time I laughed this hard, like laughing to the point of coughing and gasping for air! This was comedy gold!

Wes is the Modern Gentleman, a columnist for a social media company. He writes a love and dating advice column for men. He gets an assignment from his boss to use his own techniques to date a woman. It’s very much How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, but the opposite. He meets June in the weirdest way, and quickly realizes that his usual techniques are not working on her. June is quirky, and has an old school way of thinking. This is the very epitome of slow burn. Their dates go incredibly wrong but were so darn hilarious to read! He is more himself around her than anyone else. But, the best part of this book was the friendship Wes has with his buddies. Roman, Caden and Wes’s relationship was so ridiculous, but absolutely perfect! I really hope we get a book on these guys.

The Modern Gentleman was so funny and exactly what I needed right now. This is definitely a book I will be rereading. If you are looking for an absolutely hilarious romantic comedy, look no further, this is the book for you!
