Phillip Dorsett on outside looking in as Colts' third receiver

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts entered training camp with more than just Andrew Luck as a question mark.

After three days of practice -- the players were off Wednesday -- some of the answers to those questions are already becoming clearer. And for those of you wondering, there still hasn't been a timetable on when Luck will be removed from the physically unable to perform list.

• Has Chester Rogers separated himself from Phillip Dorsett as the No. 3 receiver? Yes. Dorsett -- a first-round pick in 2015 -- has had his moments so far in camp, but this job is, without a doubt, Rogers' to lose. The 2016 undrafted free agent out of Grambling had one of the best offseasons of any player on the Colts roster. It's carried into training camp, where he continues to be the third receiver with T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief when the Colts go to three-receiver sets.

• Will Malik Hooker start at safety? Eventually, but right now he's in catch-up mode trying to get up to speed after missing the offseason program while recovering from surgery. He's also only practiced on two of the three days because he was excused from Monday's session for personal reasons. You can expect Hooker to start with Darius Butler when Hooker finds his rhythm with the defense.

• Who will be the No. 2 cornerback? Second-round pick Quincy Wilson is going to have to take the spot from Rashaan Melvin because Melvin has been working alongside veteran Vontae Davis with the first unit. Wilson has received some spot reps with the first team. As is the case with Hooker, the Colts believe Wilson has the talent to be a starter. Things should become clearer between Wilson and Melvin as training camp continues, especially when the Colts have their joint practice against the Detroit Lions next week.

• What's going on at inside linebacker? If the first three days are any indication, the favorites to start are Jon Bostic and Antonio Morrison. They have held those spots with the first unit throughout camp. Edwin Jackson, Sean Spence and rookie Anthony Walker are the other candidates.

• Is the switch of Jack Mewhort and Joe Haeg a long-term thing along the offensive line? You have to hope so. It was a smart move by the coaching staff to move Mewhort from left to right guard and Haeg from right to left guard. Now the Colts have experience scattered on both sides of the line to help with Haeg and Le'Raven Clark, who are both in their second seasons. Mewhort will help Clark on the right side and left tackle Anthony Castonzo will help Haeg.
