Joe Burrow won't attend Senior Bowl: What it means for Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals won’t have the opportunity to get with LSU quarterback Joe Burrow at the 2020 Senior Bowl.

Saturday, Jim Nagy announced the Heisman Trophy winner won’t attend the event in Mobile.

The development is both understandable and doesn’t equate to much from a Bengal perspective.

Burrow’s season ended Monday in the national title game and he’s had a whirlwind of a week since then. Keep in mind he suffered a rib injury during the game and if we’re being honest, he has everything to lose if he goes out and hurts himself at an all-star game for seniors.

Granted, it would’ve been nice for Bengals coaches to simply interact with Burrow and see some details behind the scenes such as how he digests information, etc.

But even then, a handful of months stand between now and the draft and Burrow will surely make visits and be at the combine and pro days.

And besides, he already answered whether he’d like to play for the Bengals while visiting the White House.

In the interim, the Bengals will coach the South team in Mobile and oversee three talented quarterbacks, headlined by Oregon’s Justin Herbert.

Burrow’s absence won’t change anything on the Bengals front, but it sure doesn’t hurt to have intel on three more passers in the class, alongside the obvious benefits while working with all the other players in attendance.
