Bucs QB Jameis Winston destined for big leap in 2017

After the Tampa Bay Buccaneers came up short in their race to the playoffs this season, the Bucs spent the entire offseason aggressively loading the offense up with more weapons for their franchise quarterback. The Bucs have spent the past few months working to improve Winston’s supporting cast and believe he’s bound to make a big leap in 2017.

General manager Jason Licht and company acquired deep-threat wide receiver DeSean Jackson in free agency and rising star tight end O.J. Howard in the draft along with running back Jeremy McNichols and wide receiver Chris Godwin in an effort to provide a much needed upgrade to the offense.

A few areas Winston struggled with in 2016 are his deep-ball, protecting the football and he unfortunately racked up one too many costly interceptions. It also doesn’t help that he struggled to gel with Vincent Jackson and that the only three receivers that consistently aided his game are Mike Evans, Adam Humphries and tight end Cameron Brate.

Fortunately, however, the 23-year-old gunslinger still managed to accomplish a huge milestone in his career becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for over 4,000 yards in his first two seasons. This means the Bucs are slated to have one of the best offenses in the NFL and the young quarterback is without a doubt destined for a big leap this year which hopefully results in a long awaited playoff birth and a ticket to the post season for the first time in a decade.
