As training camp approaches, there are still some talented veterans looking for new homes.
NFL Total Access recently looked at four players who remain team-less and discussed their best fits for each player. The players included Darrelle Revis, Colin Kaepernick, Mario Williams and Anquan Boldin. When the discussion turned to Boldin, Brian Baldinger picked the Buffalo Bills as his best fit for the veteran wide receiver.
"I believe that Anquan Boldin is gonna get signed," said Baldinger. "Everybody knows what kind of professional he is, he's been the [Walter Payton] Man of the Year. I just think a team right now that really is in desperate need of wide receivers is the Buffalo Bills... I mean you got Zay Jones who's a rookie, we've seen where Sammy Watkins has struggled to stay healthy. Andre Holmes comes from Oakland. I just think he'd be a great signing in Buffalo."
Boldin will turn 37 in-season, but he's still producing on the field. Last year, Boldin caught 67 passes for 584 yards and eight touchdowns with the Detroit Lions. In his 14 seasons in the league, Boldin has recorded 1,076 receptions for 13,779 yards and 82 touchdown receptions.
Buffalo's wide receiver depth is questionable after their top three receivers so it's no surprise to see the team linked as a best fit for Boldin. The veteran receiver would certainly bolster Buffalo's depth chart at the position, but whether he'd want to join the Bills is uncertain. It's unlikely that he'd come close to playing as many snaps as he did one season ago (877) and he may be more interested in joining a contender in the hopes of winning a second championship in his career.
