Nate Pearson is ridiculously handsome and wears the hell out of a suit and tie, but I’ve seen the parade of beautiful women leaving his apartment across the hall—a different one every time—and I want no part of it. When it comes to romance, I’m looking for something real, something that will last: the happily ever after.

As a divorce attorney, he loves to tell me there’s no such thing.

As a wedding planner, I choose to disagree.

We disagree on almost everything, in fact. Everything except James Bond. The only time we really get along is when we’re watching 007 flicks together, and I’ll admit—he has rescued me from a disaster or five. So when one of the baton twirlers from his parade leaves a baby girl at his door with a note that says “I’ll come back for her” and he begs me for help, I can’t turn him down.

But it’s a mistake.

Because watching him with his daughter, I start to see another side of Nate, a side that has my breath coming faster, my body craving his, my heart longing for him to change his mind about love and tell me there’s a chance for us.

I don’t want to be just another girl leaving his apartment in the morning.

I want to be the one he asks to stay.

KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

‘ONLY YOU’:  Is a full length Contemporary Romance novel by new to me author Melanie Harlow. Spoken in ‘Dual Perspectives’ A from friends to lovers super sweet, super swoon worthy read!!

Emme and Nate have loved across the hall from each other for three years and fast became solid friends. They are as different as chalk and cheese, hotted up suit wearing Nate is a divorce attorney and Emme’s a wedding planner, she’s a hopeless romantic and he’s not. They disagree on all things love.

I still believed in love.
I still believed in soul mates
I still wished on stars and blew the fluff off dandelions
and read my horoscope every morning, hoping for romance on the horizon.

A divorce lawyer with an iron cage around his heart.
I had made up my mind long ago that love was something to be feared.
Avoided. And if necessary, sabotaged.
Otherwise it would destroy you.

The only thing they seem to have in common was their love of James Bond movies just not on the actors themselves he thought every bond actor other than Sean Connery a personal affront whereas she preferred Daniel Craig.

Resisting Nate Pearson, handsome playboy, was one thing.
Resisting Nate Pearson, handsome single dad, was quite another.

He’s always coming to her rescue and she’s always watching his revolving door from his apartment as different females come and go of a Sunday.

Chapter one was full of the giggles so before I knew it I was hooked and from there I fell in love with the ups and downs, the highs and lows, the angst, the feels.

This is fast becoming one of my one click obsessions (from friends to lovers) but what made me love this one even more, add in a wee baby and I was a goner. I loved Nate's *non fainting* episode when he discovered that he was the father to an eight week old girl, stepping into charters unknown as he was well over his head, not knowing a thing about babies, but then Emme for the first time comes to his rescue and together they made a formidable team.

*****FIVE STARS*****
{ARC Generously Provided by Author}

Why did lightning strike for some people, and not for others? Why did some of us pick the wrong people over and over again, and others got it right the first time? Why were we told as kids to listen to our hearts when things like geography or timing or luck seemed to matter so much more?

What did our hearts know, anyway?

ONLY YOU is a sexy, heartfelt, and angsty friends-to-lovers romance between a handsome divorce attorney who has a jaded view of love and commitment and a beautiful wedding planner with a big heart who dreams of having the fairytale ending. They may seem polar opposites but have been good friends ever since they became neighbors in their loft apartment complex. This is one of the rare occasions where I loved the Heroine more than the Hero. She is someone that I related to on so many levels. Nate drove me nuts with his push and pull behavior and I hoped that he would eventually get his act together so that he could be the man that deserved to win Emme’s heart.

Emme hasn’t made the best choices in the men she’s given her heart to in the past. She’s a beautiful soul who loves with her whole being and she has a hard time separating her heart from her head. She has dreams of finding the one man who she will share an all-consuming love with but has only managed to get her heart broken over and over again, and yet still she hasn’t given up on her dreams of finding her one true love.

Nate Pearson loves his life as a single man. There is never a shortage of women that he can have hot no strings attached sex with. He’s completely happy with his uncomplicated life that only revolves around his wants and needs---his world gets rocked when a little care package is left outside his front door with a note from a one night stand he had almost a year ago. To say that Nate freaks out when he learns he’s the father of a two-month-old baby girl is an understatement. Luckily, Emme was there to help him navigate through his first few days of fatherhood.

At first Nate is completely overwhelmed and not at all open to the possibility of being a father and having to make changes in the lifestyle he was accustomed to, but Emme puts him in his place and it’s like a light switch is flipped and he’s determined to be the best Dad for his little girl. While he’s getting used to being a father, Nate is also realizing that he’s developed deep feelings for Emme, and it scares him to death. He’s always kept himself closed off to love because loving someone has only brought him heartbreak in the past. They share many steamy nights of passion during stolen moments and even though they both vow to remain friends and that they’re not heading toward a serious relationship, there’s no denying that something special is happening between them.

At the beginning of the story, I was a huge fan of Nate. He was the sexy and funny neighbor who became insanely attractive with every passing second he started to bond with his daughter. But when he kept pulling Emme into his life and into his arms only to push her away the following morning by giving her the cold shoulder, I started to really dislike him. I understood he had emotional baggage but my heart broke for Emme, every time he turned into a cold bastard. I empathized with Emme and even though I knew there’s no way this would end badly since I’ve read several of Melanie Harlow’s books, I still couldn’t help but be pissed off with Nate.

When Nate has the chance to get his old life back, will he be able to transition back to it, or will he realize that he too wants that fairytale ending that he always thought Emme was foolish for believing in?

Here are my overall ratings:

Heroine: 5

Angst: 4.5

I have tears in my eyes! I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK! So undeniably, unequivocally, irrevocably in love with this book. It was gorgeous. From the first chapter I felt myself beginning to fall. Everything about the storyline and the characters captivated me. Emme and Nate are delicious together. Their personalities, their conversations, their chemistry... my my my! I was a goner, charmed beyond words. Only You is so well written. Melanie knows how to capture and secure the heart of her readers. She is an excellent writer with books that ooze heartfelt goodness. And gosh, did I ever fall in love. I can’t catch my breath right now. This was blissful. ALL THE THINGS I live for in romance. I can’t recommend it enough.

Only You starts off HOT. Nate and Emme are a hilarious breath of fresh air. Their distinct personalities win you over immediately. Where Emme is full of life—wild with emotion, a dreamer, optimistic—Nate is the opposite. He lives a “surface level” kind of life. He NEVER involves his emotions in anything. He thrives on control. These two are polar opposites, yet they’ve developed an amazing friendship over the last 3 years. A divorce attorney (Nate) and a wedding planner (Emme), they live across the hall from each other. They have two completely different outlooks on love and that shows when an unexpected surprise (in the form of a baby) lands on Nate’s doorstep. And gracious me, I loved that so much! I ate up each page of this romance. Watching Nate and Emme’s relationship grow was fun and sweet and sexy and so good.

Between laughing at how charming these two are together and wanting to swoon forever as Nate transforms from this closed off, jaded playboy into a open, caring man, I was in book heaven. Every moment spent with these characters was an ultimate pleasure. I had belly flutters, little electric sparks zapping me as I read. There’s such beauty in this love story, such decadent sweetness in the friendship to lovers romance that transforms Nate and Emme.

On top of all that, we get to see Coco and Nick and Mia and Lucas from the Frenched series. Hooray! As a MEGA fan of those books I was delighted to see those characters again. Emme is Mia’s cousin, and partners with Coco at Devine Events. Getting to see them all together made me happy. And I must say, if you haven’t read the Frenched Series (what the heck? You should do that), reading this first shouldn’t hurt your reading experience at all!

Overall, Only You felt like a treat. A big, delicious romantic treat for the heart! I can’t stop swooning! I’m absolutely smitten with every little detail that makes up this story! Melanie did an amazing job and I think this is her best book to date (which is saying a lot because I’ve read and loved most of them)! To say I recommend it would be an understatement! You should absolutely read it! I think it’s one the best books of the year!

I’ve always enjoyed a Melanie Harlow book. I can always count on a sweet, make me feel good kinda feeling when I read her stories. Definitely no different with this story.

This story is on Nate & Emme. Neighbors that live across the hall from each other. Emme has watched Nate for years bring different girls home, never wanting a relationship, just the physical aspects of it, simply just sex. So she’s always looked the other way, secretly wishing he’d ever want more in a relationship.

Nate & Emme hang out often, always as friends, never anything sexual related happening between them. However somewhere along the way, things changed and they both seem to want more, start to feel this connection, needing more of each other. And then suddenly Nate is left with a surprise at his door. All of a sudden Emme is needed not just for friendship, but for so much more. Nate was adamant on nothing more than a friendship though. He was denying himself anything more with Emme. Fighting attraction was the goal, keep things strictly in nothing more than a good time with a good person.

We’ve all read these stories. Of course we know what’s going to happen. It’s the way the story is told that makes a story and Mrs. Harlow does an amazingly wonderful job bringing this story to life. I throughly enjoyed it. It has the perfect amount of angst, just enough smut, and a bit of drama to make it an exceptional read for me.

If you are looking for a book that gives you plenty of smiles, a couple tears, a page or two or 200 pages of angst, and a boatload of sweetness, this one is for you. A definite recommend from me ❤️

Review & Excerpt at Of Pens and Pages.

Resisting Nate Pearson was one thing. Resisting Nate Pearson, handsome single dad, was quite another. I wasn't sure I was up to the task."

Only You by Melanie Harlow is a sweet and steamy romance that was bound to happen between two seemingly opposite characters. Nate, a perpetual bachelor/divorce lawyer, and Emme, a wedding planner and hopeless romantic who has a tendency to accidentally set things on fire.

Nate and Emme have been neighbors for three years, and friends for just as long. As attracted they are to each other, no one really makes a move to be more than friends because they value their friendship too much. Besides, they know they're too different to work out. Emme wants a happily ever after walking down the aisle in a white dress, and Nate just doesn't see himself having that.

Two friends and a baby outside his door makes three. When one of Nate's old flings leaves a baby and a simple note saying it's his, Nate's bachelor lifestyle is invaded by one adorable little girl who tends to cry the whole night—as babies do. It's a good thing Emme has some experience with children and can help him. It'll just be harder to resist temptation now that they're spending more time together.

But Nate and Emme have a long way to go. Emme needs to realize she deserves more than she thinks and she needs to get out of her tendency to fall for the wrong men, and Nate has to come to terms with the changes that have been coming to his life and if he should embrace it or reject it.

Emme is such a colorful person. Questionable taste in men aside, she's such an entertaining character to read, and so likable, too! She's a bit of a hazard, but there's just something about her that makes her not annoying. She's nice, but is not a pushover. Giving, but not self-sacrificing. Career-oriented, but not a complete workaholic. Fun, but not completely reckless. She has some growing up to do, but she's on the right track.

I love that Nate wasn't instantly a super-dad when Paisley entered his life. This man had no dreams of becoming a father, and so it wasn't surprising he'd freak out. But Nate is a hardworking guy, and he exerts as much effort at work as he does with Paisley and Emme, maybe even more. He slowly but surely falls in love with his daughter, and embraces fatherhood wholeheartedly. It was so heartwarming to read it.

When I first saw this couple interact with each other, I instantly loved their dynamic! It's an easy friendship between two people who obviously trust and care for each other. And then the sexual chemistry came through!!! So hot, I swear. But what I loved the most about them is while they wanted to boink each other's brains out, it's mixed with genuine affection and respect. Does that make sense?

If you're looking for a fun friends-to-lovers romance with some single daddy hotness, you'll enjoy reading Only You. Now I want to read stories for Emme's sisters!

No surprises here, folks! I loved it.

Melanie Harlow definitely has my number. She writes it; I love it!

In Only You, she gives me exactly what I was hoping for. From the stunning cover, to the witty characters, to the surprise baby, I was a goner. I connected immediately with each character and it only got better from there. I love this trope, so once Paisley was introduced, it was over. I FLOVED it!

Here's the breakdown:
Emme and Nate live across the hall from one another. She's a bit of a mess and he's a certified player. They have an amazing friendship based on mutual interests and Nate's propensity to save Emme on occasion. When a surprise lands on Nate's doorstep, it's Emme's turn to play rescuer. After that, their relationship grows into something more.

What I loved: The characters are so vivid. They have full lives and a lot going on around them. I was completely and immediately drawn into their worlds.
The are a couple significant emotional issues both Nate and Emme struggle with. I loved seeing how they dealt with those problems and in most cases overcome them.
It's a secret/surprise baby! I FLOVE this trope. It's real life with a spin. Melanie Harlow did a fantastic job with this book. Two thumbs up!

Highly recommended!

Oh, my, Melanie Harlow. You can always get me with your swoony, sexy men, but you undid me with that baby. With banter that reminds me of old black and white romantic comedies starring Hepburn and Stewart and an angry sex scene that requires a panty change afterward, this book is definitely one of my favorites. And I'm not just saying that because you wrote a good chunk of it while sitting in my office. <3

Really liked it!

Emme and Nate have been friends and neighbors for 3 years. They have great chemistry and you could tell there was some attraction between them, but they’ve never acted upon it. That is until one night that changed their lives for ever.

This book was great! Emme and Nate are perfect for each other. At first Nate was pretty selfish and vain but he soon became the man he was always meant to be. Seeing him with his baby daughter melted my heart!

Emme is a romantic at heart and that has caused her grieve in the past, since she always falls in love with the wrong guy. She’s patient and understanding with Nate. She’s there for him and gives him the confidence he needs during a particularly difficult moment in his life. I just loved them together!

If you are looking for a sweet, sexy, friends-to-lovers story, then this book is for you!

“God help me, I loved her and wanted her and needed her. She was mine, she was mine-that’s what I needed to prove.”

WOW! This book was ROMANTIC as hell! Not that I expect anything less from the ever so talented Melanie Harlow. Diving right into it, I knew I was going to get pummeled with ALL THE FEELS, ALL THE BUTTERFLIES, and ALL THE EMOTIONS! Nate and Emme were just wonderful characters. Their easy friendship, teasing, and banter was completely addictive. I’m not gonna lie, it took me a minute to warm up to our hero. He was this vain playboy who struck a nerve with some of the things that came out of his mouth. But when that baby girl was left on his doorstep, and after the initial freakout, he sunk deep into my heart and there was no going back from that. The loyalty and dedication that Emme showcased when it came to helping out Nate was just a beautiful thing. Through this hardship they grew closer and their feelings grew deeper. Nate is confident in himself that he is for sure NOT the man for Emme, but the heart doesn’t lie…if only his head would get on board!

All in all, this love story was one of my FAVORITES from this author. Only Ms. Harlow can take a friends-to-lovers, single dad romance, and turn it into something so much bigger. I loved it! It made me laugh, made me cry, made me curse and shout to the heavens, but in the end the heartache and expletives were worth it. Another beautiful, sexy, feel good romance from one of my FAVORITE authors!

Emme and Nate are next door neighbors and he’s always there for her whenever she needs him. And she does a lot, since she’s a moving disaster. They watch Bond movies together and they have been friends , never crossing that line, because Emme is a relationship type of girl and Nate is the exact opposite with girls parading from his apartment pretty frequently.

One night Nate’s life is changing when he finds himself in a situation that he never wanted. Facing the consequences of this situation, he feels unable to deal with it without Emme on his side. But the circumstances bring these two closer and their relationship is about to change. For better or not, they won’t be the same next door neighbors.

“Resisting Nate Pearson, handsome playboy, was one thing. Resisting Nate Pearson, handsome single dad, was quite another. I wasn’t sure I was up to the task.”

I truly enjoyed this book by Melanie. I genially love the tropes that existed in this novel. Friends to lovers, next door romance, single dad etc. I loved the layers that were beneath these characters, especially Nate had a really fascinating personality. I loved his character growth and how he developed, how from the denial and the freak out, he went through the motions, he accepted and finally embraced the ordeal with Paisley. Also, apart from the situation with her, he had to face his inner demons about Emme and I really liked that the book was focused more on him, because I thought there was potential that was handled perfectly.

This is definitely a book that I would recommend, because not only did I laugh and swoon, but I also had a great time while reading it. I think you also get to see some of her older characters in this one, but I can’t be entirely sure, because I’ve only read Man Candy by the author. Can’t wait to read more by Melanie!

Beware of Spoilers!

Star Ratings:
Heroine (Emme): 30yrs old
Hero (Nate): 35yrs old
Plot: 2/5
Grovel: meh
Cheating: none
HEA: yes
Triggers: manwhore

Average score: 2/5

Best Line: “I’d never been one to shy away from conflict, and both of us liked a good argument.”

Worst Line: “Rare was the weekend night Nate wasn’t out on the town
with a beautiful woman—or several—on his arm. I’d seen them leaving his apartment the next morning on multiple occasions.”

Personal Review:
A pretty poor ‘friends with benefits’ to ‘lovers’ romance based on gratitude rather than ‘true love’

Random Ramblings:
•Foolish but funny start to the story
•I am a firm believer that arguments are healthy in relationships
•I agree with Nate about James Bond
•Didn’t really like knowing the hero was vain (he admitted it himself)
•When he fainted…

•Apology appreciated
•Uh oh…I don’t want this to turn into an “I appreciate you” instead of “I love you” story
•I do enjoy “that’s what she said” humour…especially when it’s unexpected
•I liked that we had the H’s POV – it really helped to understand why he is the way he is
•I would have liked to know how long they had been neighbours
•Stella gave her some pretty sound advice
•I am starting to hate friends-with-benefits relationships in romances
•I couldn’t get away from the feeling that he was just using her because she was so available
•I wish she said no sometimes
•I LOVE ‘This is Us’

•So he wouldn’t have gone back and apologised if he hadn’t locked himself out of his apartment??

•I am so confused…why does the h believe that they have been dating for 2 weeks when actually that’s when they started the benefits things…that’s not the same as dating!! and now she is jumping ahead with being ‘in love’! No wonder the h gets disappointed easily

Overall Feeling:
I just couldn’t connect to either of the main characters

3.5 Baby Daddy Stars

Things I liked about this book:

- The dialogued and banter I read, I liked
- Single Daddy storyline and with a newborn baby (extra points for that)
- Strong leading Heroine with a likable personality
- The length of the book was perfect
- The steamy parts were good. I can’t tell you how many new adult books I read without the steam and honestly if Only You didn’t have steam, I would have been okay with that too because it didn’t have a half naked man on the cover.

Things that I struggled with

- The cover – Look this isn’t a big deal, but I went into this book thinking it was a drama because of the cover. It’s a cute cover, but the book is comical. So I had a different mind-set when I went into it. I wished I knew it was a comical book. BUT this isn’t a big deal.
- A majority of the book is dialogued based which I love. This is the type of pace and reading I like to read. However, the inner monologues and self reflections I read was too much. Sometimes I would read paragraphs and paragraphs of self reflections. It was too much and I started to skim these parts.
- Asking questions. What? I know it doesn’t make sense. The characters have inner monologues and ask themselves questions A LOT. It was so much that it got to the point where I was making a mental note to write that in my review. If I had to be a beta reader, I would have said “Your characters ask a lot of questions to themselves.” (BUT that’s just me)
- Too many side characters. I didn’t know if this book was part of a series because I felt like Emme’s friends had a too big of a part in the book. With the kids and husbands and visits. I didn’t know if they were part of a different series and this is like a mini camo or what. Then you have Emme’s sisters and I’m like, are they going to be in the future books? Just too many side characters. And too many visits. I didn’t need a rehash of what JUST happened to Emme and Nate.
- I didn’t like Nate. I liked him at first when he had the baby because it was sooooo adorable to read about him and his interaction and I laughed out loud a lot, BUT good grief that guy is a jerk. I couldn’t take his hot and cold personality. I love a guy that pushes the heroine away, but by the 2, 3, 4th 100th time I gave up on him.

I see the glowing reviews for this book and awesome that people liked it. I really wanted to. I’ve given this author no less than 4 starts on her previous books and I love a single baby daddy storyline, but there was something wrong with the pace and flow with this one.

Oh, one thing I do like is that the author made the baby a focal point of the story. Nothing irritates me more when there’s a single parent book and the kid is non-existent.

So I missed out on this one, but it won’t be the last that I will read from this author.

“It was s dream, but you made it real.”

I just love Melanie Harlow's stories and when I read the blurb about a divorce lawyer and a wedding planner with an unexpected baby, I just had to read it!

Nate and Emme become friends by living next door to each other. They watched out for each other and sometimes have a 007 movie night. Emme hates the women that parade out of his apartment and Nate wishes Emme didn't live in a fantasy (romance) world.

On one of those 007 nights, they hear a baby crying out in the hall and go to investigate. There definitely is a baby and unfortunately the note is for Nate. "Congratulations You're a Dad."...it's not something Nate would think he would ever hear...and he is so not prepared. Thank goodness for Emme.

Those parts made me laugh so hard but I have to give Nate credit because after his initial response, he dove in with both hands becoming a pretty awesome Dad. Now, if he just did that with Emme.

description

And he does to an extent. They both want each other but Nate has some issues (of course) and he just can't see past them. The problem is every time he pushes Emme away, he turns her around and pulls her in even closer, opening up to her like he hasn't to anyone else.

But Emme can only take so much. Thankfully, she has her sisters, family and friends to turn to. Mia (from the Frenched series) is her cousin and I loved getting updated on her and Lucas.

There's some drama when the baby mama finally shows back up but I was actually impressed with her...and Nate for keeping level heads.

“Only you. Always you.”

The "big gesture" was pretty amazing as was the fortune cookies and I just loved how everything worked out.

Next up is Only Him (out June 4, 2018) and it's Emme's sister, Maren's story. I can't wait to read more about her.

Title: Only You
Author: Melanie Harlow
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publication date: March 10, 2018

ARC

I don't know how she does it but she has done it yet again!
I have been feeling under the weather for the past two weeks so couldn't write up my review as soon as I finished. It's been almost two weeks since I finished reading Only You and just thinking about this book brings a smile to my face.
You can always count of Melanie Harlow to write a story that is sweet, comforting and sexy at the same time.

It's hard to fault this book. Melanie has written a beautiful book. You feel like you know these characters and somehow connect with them, the storyline is emotional, funny and seriously hot.

Lets be real here and say that the general consensus from the readers of contemporary romance is 'alpha men as dads are SOOOOO hot yet so bloody cute!'. Melanie Harlow literally served us a storyline in a silver platter... think Harvey Specter, only taller, a lawyer, in suit (you are welcome to that image lol)

I absolutely loved reading this book and I think you will too. You will fall in love with Nate and Emme!

I highly recommend this book!

I read the second book before Only You. I remember i like the second book better than the first one. Nate is typical man whore alpha male character. I do like him but he is annoying sometimes with his trying his best over and over again. It gets old, sorry to say. At one point it seems he is lying with his effort.

Meanwhile Emmy is likeable enough to keep giving Nate a chance over and over again. At one point i want to slap her and scrwam at her with frustration. The story is romantic. Miss Harlos knows how to stir your emotion. But in this book, only 3 stars romantic.

Overall i do enjoy this book OK.

3.5 Stars

Overall I enjoyed this story and it did keep me captivated. Nate and Emme had a great friendship, which was fun to see turn into more. And Nate trying not to completely eff-up fatherhood was actually really adorable. I thought there were some things that needed to be resolved a little better that left me feeling a little incomplete at the end though so that's my reason for a 3.5 Star rating.

Although it ticked all the boxes for a romance novel I found it to be very superficial. The characters seemed one dimensional and I couldn't connect to them. I only felt some emotion when Nate thought about the memories of his brother(who is dead) otherwise the book was really dull. The baby felt like a prop to me and their "love" story felt convenient and more inclined towards lust/attraction.

Dual 1st person POV
The h, Emme lives across the hall in the same apt building as the H, Nate.
Emme is an event planner-mainly weddings. Nate is a divorce attorney. Need I say more?
Opposites attract? Um. yeah.
Meet cute? Yep. Emme is a little klutzy- locking herself out of her apt, setting fire to an ex's wedding invite. Nate coming to the rescue when it gets out of control.
Emme seems to grow out of her helplessness.
Nate has some unexpected news dropped on him. It's in the blurb, so I'm not spoiling anything.
He gets a baby dropped off on his doorstep. How he reacts is both admirable and annoying/frustrating. He steps up and accept the baby as his daughter (that could be either annoying or admirable). He's an attorney, why no immediate paternity test?
For the sake of the story and especially the baby, Nate makes plans to take care of his infant daughter. He has no idea what to do. Emme helps Nate get some baby supplies and shows him how to feed, bath, even hold the baby.
Nate and Emme get closer as they spend more and more time together. Nate resists admitting that he has feelings for Kate. She gives him space so he can be with his daughter. Nate wonders what's wrong.
He wants to be with her. Emme then spends time with Nate. He pushes her away. This happens a lot. The weird thing is, it seems normal. Some guys are totally helpless when unexpected events happen. Like becoming a father. Losing sleep. Worrying about screwing up.
The baby mama doesn't come around for awhile, so no real issues with ow or om
Nate does bond with his baby (Paisley). Emme is way more steady, but she's losing patience with Nate's back and forth. So am I. Emme gives him several chances. Nate runs hot or cold.
I wanted to see a more steady progression in Nate's growth. Nate and Emme had chemistry, Nate just fought it so much.
Emme's 2 sisters Maren and Stella are great supporting characters. They're a little condescending toward Emme at first, but they come through in the end.
There's a great HEA, but no real epilogue. I liked this author's books and will read more. Maren's book is next-due June 2018. I'm sure that I'll read it.
Thanks for the reco Chele ;)

3.75 Only You, Always You Stars

Nate Pearson is a divorce attorney that does not believe in marriage, let alone relationships. Emme has watched a long line of beautiful women leave his apartment for years. She believes in hearts and flowers and is looking for her soul mate. Yet, these neighbors enjoy each other’s company, watching movies and drinking cocktails together. Their banter is fun and easy going, maybe there is more than neighborly feelings involved.

One movie night, Nate’s world is changed forever when he finds a baby at his door, left by a woman he “met up” with. Apparently he is the father and she needs some time to herself. Nate is freaked out and thankful Emme is there to help. After spending so much time together, things do change and Nate cannot stop thinking about Emme, which freaks him out even more.

Emme has always thought Nate’s was gorgeous, but doesn’t understand why his feelings run hot and cold towards her. She is determined not to be one of the girls that do the “walk of shame” from his apartment.

All in all, I really liked this story and these two together BUT I do have one little niggle that prevented me from rating this book higher, but I don’t want to give too much away. There was also no epilogue, but I do (sort of) understand why. This is book 1 in a series, and I am hoping that next book will be about one of Emme’s sisters and maybe this story will continue.

I am so taken with the way she writes and I would basically read anything penned by this goddess.

Türkçe yorumum aşağıda ;)

I would like to start my review by saying that I love this author's writing. Her Some Sort of Happy is one of my favorites. But this book was... I don't know I just couldn't get into the story.

Nate and Emme are neighbors. Emme is a clutz and he saves her all the time. Even though they have an attraction they don't act on it, knowing she would want commitment and Nate is a hook-up guy. One night while they were sitting together they hear a baby's cry and found a baby in Nate's door. It turns out this baby is Nate's. Emme starts to help him out with the baby and they start to get close, sleeping together. But of course, Nate freaks out and pushes her away. You know the drill LOL

If it would have been my first book by this author I would have given 3 or 3,5 stars maybe. The writing is good. BUT I've already read Some Sort Of series by this author and unfortunately, this book has the same pattern as that. Starts with very insecure middle child (Skylar-Emme) who has an older sister who is successful in her career but has no luck in love (Stella-Jillian) and a little sister who is content in her life but not utterly happy (Maren-Natalie) Because of this I felt like... I don't know how to say. It wasn't something new.

The hero was... ugh let's just say not my kind of hero. He finds out he has a baby, he refuses to take care of her, he gets angry with baby mama and decides that he can look after a two-month-old baby for a month. He is not doing this because he loves his baby. That bothered me. Even though in the end he says he loves his baby and Emme it wasn't convincing enough for me.

But I must say, THE COVER IS AMAZING!

***

Öncelikle yoruma bu yazarı sevdiğimi söyleyerek başlamak istiyorum. Some Sort of Happy benim en sevdiğim kitaplardan.

Bebek Nate'in çıkıyor.

WHOOSH!!! <—- That’s my heart whooshing!!! Melanie Harlow has written another dreamy love story that is so SWOONING GOOD!!! The writing is PURE MAGIC! Only You is HEART meets HEAT. I sweet sighed. I gushed. I whooshed. Only You made me swoon all the way to Cloud Nine.

Two neighbors connect: a beautiful dreamer of a romance lover sizzles with her hot, sexy, and single-turned-sudden-dad neighbor.

Emme is fun, awkward, sassy, and pretty. I could so be her bestie. You can’t help but adore this heroine.

Nate HAD ME at instant baby daddy. Hot. Charming. Incredibly irresistible. Nate is the ultimate hero. I crushed so hard on hot daddy, Nate!

I couldn’t resist her.

Only You is as smoldering as it is swoony but it’s so much MORE than a romance. Only You is a tale of growth—rising up when you feel like falling down. Only You is about having faith—that all missing pieces will fall into place. Only You brings hope to hopeless and openness to closed hearts. Only You shows the appreciation of life’s unexpected moments, life’s surprises that often turn into the biggest gifts.

Our kiss was a weapon, our mouths seeking to annihilate, consume, destroy.

Scorching heat meets sugary sweet in Only You. All-consuming, soul-stirring, and heart-stopping sexy, Only You is FRIENDSHIP ON FIRE! This fairytale casts a love spell you’ll feel everywhere. ALL THE WHOOSH!

”Only you. Always you.”

4.5 steamy and dreamy ‘only you’ kisses

Only You was the first book in the One and Only series by Melanie Harlow.

Nate was a divorce attorney aka relationship skeptic and Emme was a Wedding Planner aka fairytale romantic. They lived across the hall from each other, were friends and couldn’t have been more opposite. Add in an unexpected eight week old daughter dropped on a doorstep and things just got complicated.

Harlow took us through a journey of changes and coming into one’s own. It wasn’t necessarily an easy path, but a path none the less. Harlow told the story through a double POV with a mixture of seriousness and humor. Although it was a journey for both, Nate had a lot of baggage that shaped his thoughts and lifestyle that he needed to confront before he could grow. He was likable but he was also a douche at times. But what’s the saying...in the end, love wins.

All in all, it was well written and enjoyable. The stage was set for the series to continue through Emme’s sisters, Maren in Only Him and Stella in Only Love.

This was such an adorable read, I really enjoyed it! Especially because I really like a single parents trope.

As a little context, we have Nate and Emme who are neighbors and friends.

Nate is always rescuing Emme and he makes fun of that because she is always getting in trouble.

But everything changed when someone leaves a baby outside Nate's doorstep with a note saying she was his daughter.

Emme starts helping him out with the baby and teaching him all the basics so he can take care of her. But after some time they get too close and they end up falling in love.

Unfortunately Nate has some big commitments and trust issues that make it hard for him to admit his feelings for Emme.

Overall this was a great read. And I loved to read those scenes with Nate and his daughter. And Emme as a character was great too, she was very relatable.

I think my only complaint is that I felt like their relationship happened way too fast. Like... they were friendly neighbors for three years but suddenly fell in love in two weeks? That seem a little unrealistic to me. But other than that I really enjoyed this book.

I forgot I hadn't reviewed this despite the fact I could see it lurking at the top left corner of Goodreads. Oh well.

Very Contemporary Romance with lots of fun banter, lots of sex and a friends-to-lovers misfit couple.

The premise is the night the heroine gets an invitation to her ex-boyfriend's wedding to her skinnier ex-employee, the H gets a little something as well, the baby he never knew he had.

Very cute, great banter and lots of sexy times. You can fill in the blanks, she's curvy and a little bit accident prone, he has a revolving door of sex kittens because.....BACKSTORY! He pulls away and okay, yes, a teensy bit cliched and been there-done that, but the writing, banter and voice of the characters was better than most with some laugh out loud moments.

I hate to say that I forgot some things that happened, but it's Kindle Unlimited for now and was a fun read.

Sweet, funny, single dad and the neighbor.

A good contemporary romance read. The hero is reluctant to fall in love, and it’s essentially all the heroine wants. Unexpected single parent storyline with the neighbor. Afraid to commit and ready to commit. All that jazz. All in all a good entertaining read.

I even shed a few tears, but stories with kids tend to do that to me!
