The Read Option: On Carson Palmer's home for sale, more rumors

Will Carson Palmer return to the Cardinals?

The rumors are swirling -- no surprise when it comes to the two key Cardinals considering retirement.

Various "news" outlets on Wednesday morning were expanding on a tweet, creating a story that not only speculates but draws some conclusions has become commonplace in today's "news" feed -- an open, global discussion. And it's not terribly useful.

How did this begin?

Valley talk-show host Jody Oehler, a solid sports guy who knows news judgment and many, many things in general, tweeted something fellow 910-AM sports talker -- and a longtime DEEP insider on Cards news -- Mike Jurecki said on Oehler's afternoon show.

ARIANS: 'Nothing to confirm yet' on Palmer, Fitzgerald

"Very interesting: @mikejurecki just told me Carson Palmer has listed his home for sale, pulled kids out of school and moved out of state."

He drew no conclusions, at all, merely tweeting what was on every Cards fan's mind on Tuesday afternoon, and what his conversation with Jurecki included.

Many jumped on that tweet, saying Oehler was jumping the gun.

He wasn't, of course.

He followed shortly with: "Sounds ominous but as @mikejurecki told me, its not necessarily a sign that Palmer isn't coming back. Very well could; just interesting."

This is today's Twitter world... sometimes the story doesn't move forward, it just sees some peripheral information added.

Palmer rents his house in the Valley, so, no, it's not for sale. As for the kids and the school? Well, we aren't sure what to make of that. Could certainly be worth watching.

You know what's useful? Taking Oehler at his word -- his actual words, not what some want to extrapolate.

Also, counting on our Cardinals writer, Kent Somers, on the team, and on Carson Palmer himself.

Tuesday night, Palmer texted Somers, saying his residence here in Arizona is not for sale and that he just hasn't spent much time in the state since the end of last season.

Then, Wednesday morning, Cards Master Minister of All Information (informal title) Mark Dalton tweeted Palmer's message: "No, my house in Arizona is not on the market. And every year we have taken off for offseason family adventures so there's nothing to read into there, either."

So, nope. Nothing yet to report on the subject of whether Carson Palmer is going to play in 2017.
